Yakima Chief Hops Partners with Hop Culture to Support Women in Beer

Yakima Chief Hops, a global hop supplier for the craft beer industry, has partnered with the online beer and brewing publication Hop Culture Magazine to show their support for and celebrate women in brewing. YCH is the premier Title Sponsor of the 2nd annual Hop Culture event, Beers With(out) Beards – a five-day craft beer festival throughout New York City honoring women in the beer industry.

As the country’s largest celebration of women in beer and brewing, Beers With(out) Beards will take place at various locations across NYC from Wednesday, August 7th to Sunday, August 11th. The festival features a half dozen events, from tap takeovers to workshops, social events and more, including: a tap takeover highlighting the women pounding the pavement and making sure your favorite beer makes it to your local watering hole; a beer and cheese pairing workshop with Troëgs Independent Brewing and local cheesemonger, Rachel Freier; a networking bottle share hosted by Threes Brewing and Guinness Open Gate Brewery; the Breaking BEERiers Beer Dinner 2.0 with renowned female industry veterans; and a social event at The Well highlighting some of the best women-brewed beer across the country.

By providing support and sponsorship to Hop Culture Magazine, YCH hopes to elevate this event as a major opportunity to connect women in the brewing profession and empower them to pursue their ambitions in the industry. YCH takes pride in being an all-inclusive company, knowing the art of this industry is driven by the diversity and creativity of its people.

“I had big visions for the future of this event,” said Kenny Gould, Founder of Hop Culture, “I thought, how great if we could find a partner to lend us their experience. Someone who has been in the industry for a while and understands what we’re doing. Yakima Chief Hops is passionate about promoting diversity in both the hop and beer industries, and I’m thrilled they’ll be joining us for this year’s Beers With(out) Beards Festival.”

The Title Sponsorship of the Beers With(out) Beers event complements YCH’s ongoing partnership with the Pink Boots Society (PBS), an international nonprofit organization supporting women in the brewing profession. Together YCH and PBS have created the Pink Boots Blend, a seasonal proprietary hop blend celebrating women in the beer and brewing industries. Now in its second year, a portion of the proceeds benefit the Pink Boots Society scholarship funds which helps to offer educational opportunities to women in beer. So far, YCH has contributed more than $140,000 through the sale of this popular blend, and has encouraged industry-wide brew days in celebration of International Women’s Day.

Yakima Chief Hops continues to look for ways big and small to support and encourage women to be a competitive force in brewing. As a 100% grower-owned hop supplier, YCH also seeks to provide platforms for women in both the hop and beer industries to connect and collaborate over their shared passion for making great beer from field to pint.
